SANDALS ROYALE RESORT BARBADOS

If you come to Barbados, you will feel the omnipresence of Rihanna everywhere, she might not be there physically, but her spirit is all around or at least her song is playing every other song at every beach bar. It’s pure Rihanna bliss. Barbados is a real tropical island and bigger than I was expecting. I’m used to visiting Aruba and St. Barths, very petit island comparing to Barbados– charming but small. Barbados feels like a big rock, a country– I was lucky to have stayed 8 days on the island so I was really able to get to know the Island. I had the chance to drive around and discover beautiful corners like Bottom Bay, which I visited twice, one on my own and the second time I had to bring Moti so we could take pictures together. For the second part of my trip I was (super lucky) and excited to stay at Sandals, what made Barbados feel like a home away from home was the people I met there, especially the staff at Sandals Royale Resort. Staying …

I am currently Out Of Office

I know I am supposed to say that I’ll have limited access to the internet and won’t be able to respond until I return, but let’s be real I’ll be Instagramming and posting every moment I have a chance. I promised myself I will try to disconnect, get away and enjoy my vacation as much as I can, but naturally, I just had to post on Instagram and Stories to keep you guys in the know of what I’m doing, where I’m relaxing, and what I’m relaxing in. I packed a lot of swim briefs and swim shorts by Vilebrequin . Needless to say, I went for bold prints and colorful solids. Summer is all about that punch of pattern and more.   I have a very special piece to show you (which is possibly my favorite): the Charles, a retro-inspired swimsuit from the 20’s that you all have seen me sport on my Stories. This, by far is one of my favorite pieces this season—I know it is a little bit different from regular swimsuits, and …

ESCAPE TO THE CARIBBEAN | THE RITZ CARLTON ARUBA

The Ritz-Carlton Aruba allowed me to call it home for another weekend, and what a weekend it was! Aruba is such a great spot in the Caribbean for many reasons: turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, beautiful people and exquisite food. Literally, if you look up the word paradise in a dictionary a photo of Aruba will pop up. One of the most important reasons and perhaps one that is not known to many is the fact that this little gem in the Caribbean can guarantee good weather 99% of the year. Is it a safe bet to visit Aruba? Aruba is south of the hurricane belt, which means hurricanes are not common in this area. In fact, the hurricane frequency in Aruba is roughly every 28.8 years. The last one was a Level 2 hurricane causing minor damage and took place back in 2007, 10 years ago. So, to answer my previous question; yes, Aruba is a safe bet. I encourage you to come visit and choose The Ritz-Carlton Aruba as your home away from …

ORLEBAR BROWN’s 10

Orlebar Brown is celebrating their 10 year anniversary this year. I have been a loyal fan since the very beginning, If you have been following me since day one, then you have seen me sporting the brand on many of my Instagram posts. I must say I have more Orlebar Brown shorts in my closet than any other brand. My first pair ever is a Gray Malin collaboration. This pair alone has traveled with me all around the Caribbean. I would say that I really consider it to be a personal treasure and a family heirloom, my first born son will inherit these swim trunks. I was fortunate enough to be invited by Orlebar Brown for their celebration in Bermuda. The invitation came from the man himself, Adam Brown. After so many years admiring his work. It was truly such a thrill to meet the man person. He is a true innovator when it comes to designing swimwear for men. While in Bermuda we stayed at the Hamilton Princess, which is one of the best …

VELORUM SPRING SUMMER 17

We shoot these beautiful pieces in Aruba, we decided to go south, to San Nicolaas, away from the sandy beaches of Noord. It is hard to tell you which one is my favorite piece from the collection but they are all unique and special. The mesh tops, the jumpsuits, the print on the shorts. This is truly a special collection that I had the privilege to shoot with my friend Isaiah. All these pieces are available online and in selected stores around the world, click here to visit Velorum’s website.

VERSACE SWIMWEAR

Swim Briefs, Swim Shorts, Pajama Shirt by Versace _________________________________________________________________ Speedo season, or swimwear in general, is never over in the Caribbean. Here I am sporting my new favorite pair of swim briefs, yes, I know, I call speedos all my briefs, but is the force of habit. Burgundy is a fall color, in my opinion, if you wanna keep a little seasonal tone in your swimwear also this is the perfect piece. I always wear shorts to the beach and brief under, I like to sunbath in speedos, tan lines are very sexy in my opinion. Both pieces are from the newest collection and they’re available online . You can also visit a Versace boutique or Saks to get any of these pieces.

VILLINO FLORIO

VILLINO FLORIO “Beneath the shadow of Villino Florio sprout colors in opaque, sophisticated shades. These are the precious hues od the noble gardens of Palermo, which, combined with the sinuous grace of Liberty style create enchanting blossoms and bring exclusive garments to life. The sparkling avant-garde atmosphere of the Sicilian Belle Epoque thus lives on in the refined elegance of the floral prints, whose soft arboreal lines evoke the splendor and charm of the Art Nouveau period and the great industrialist families of Palermo.” It was love at first sight when I saw this botanical print, it is very masculine, I saw these two pieces and could not help myself and I had to try them on. I think you saw my snaps and insta-stories about my trip to the store located at the Renaissance mall in the beautiful Aruba. I went for a beach stroll and did some amazing pictures. I accessorized the look with a few gold rose bracelets and black Dolce Gabbana sunnies. Jacket, shorts and sunnies by Dolce Gabbana, bracelets by …

BJORN BORG SWIMWEAR

Bjorn Borg swimwear, “designed to make you feel active and attractive”, this is how the iconic brand describes their swimwear and they’re right. The multicolor piece I’m wearing is called Dryland, these vibrant shorts really pops and that’s how I like my swimwear, to really attract attention. They’re 5 inches, so just above the new to get the legs really tanned. The print is really interesting, it is a colored desert that at first, to me, it looked like butterfly wings: I wore it this past weekend to the beach, they’re quick dryers which is one of the most important features on a great pair of swim shorts. They have a classic cut with an elastic waistband and cord to keep them in place. The design is on point, they do not look puffy at al which is another important feature. Whos likes those unflattering puffy shorts? The quality is great like every Bjorn Borg piece and the price is fantastic. They also feature pockets on each side and a dark mesh lining which is very appropriate …

WATCH YOUR BACK | XARIFA

I’ve been wearing Xarifa for over 3 years now, and it is one of the top brands for luxury swimwear. I once blogged about them and called these shorts “the most elegant swimwear” and I still stand by that affirmation. The fabric and cut of these shorts set them apart, even thou they have an elastic waistband these shorts will never look puffy and that’s always a concern when you are buying shorts with elastic. The model I’m wearing for this blog post is called Fatima, it has an optical print in which the eye plays a leading role, that characteristic symbol of the Middle East signifying the ability to “see through different eyes” on a voyage of discovery to unexplored worlds and realities… in my book, this evil eye print keeps you protected at the beach… from sharks and bad tan perhaps? *wink* Here a more detailed description: Superleggero®  Polyester shell Elastic waistband Comfortable mesh net lining Adjustable cotton drawstring Button fastening and fold-in back pocket Nickel free Italian hardware Care: Gentle cycle machine wash [30°C …

AU NATUREL BY THE CARIBBEAN KING

I remember when I was on the cover of Express Magazine back in December of 2014. In the interview I spoke about one of my plans for the future of possibly starting my own swimwear line. It wasn’t anything written in stone, but was just an idea I had. Finally, after a few months I decided to start the project, the first piece of the collection is a flesh colored swim brief . I drew inspiration from the idea of playing with sand colors and the playfulness and sexiness of the illusion of being “au naturel”, which is the name of this brief. The flesh colored items in clothing and shoes have been present in fashion in the last seasons but never in swimwear for obvious reasons.  Those reasons were the motivation that inspired me to take this direction. The design is a classic brief, not too small and not too big, just the classic speedo cut for men that are… let’s say, courageous, to wear a snug piece of swimwear. I’m very proud to say …

BEACH ESSENTIALS | PURPLE RAIN

Purple Rain duffle bag by clashist, Swimshorts by Capitán, watch by Jolli, No Smirking sunglasses by Le Specs, VOSS water, beach towel by Ottoiio and sunscreen by Island Company. ________________________________________________________________ You know, I like colorful things, I think by now you know that… So when I saw that purple rain bag I fell in love with it and I knew it was going to photograph so well… First thing I thought was: I’m going to pair this back with any of my neon green shorts, in this case my new Capitan neon green short. The Jolli watch just came here today and I thought it would be a great addition to this post. I hope you like it. Anyone coming to Aruba this month or next? It is always a good time to come to Aruba, it is a never ending summer… and for you all always concerned that if I use skin protection; I just got this set of Island Company sunscreen, not only they protect you but they have this coconut smell that …

THE BEACH TOWEL BY GRAY MALIN

These oversized towel by Gray Malin, my favorite photographer if you don’t know by now,  are the must-have item of the summer. What’s spcial about them? Well, besides featuring Gray Malin’s artwork, these towels are bigger than your usual beach towel, So you have an idea, they’re bigger than a twin size bed (42″ x 74″), that means, a man like me (6’3″) fits on it comfortably and I can also have some company 🙂 They feature the beautiful and glamorous beaches of St. Tropez and they’re a limited edition, so I suggest you get them now!  Click here to learn more about this towels! Follow Gray Malin on Instagram and here to follow me just in case you haven’t done it already :p

Bond, Pink Bond…

I have to say when I got this pair of Pink Bonds by Bluemint I was really impressed with the cut and the tailored fit. It is for sure their more refined and stylish short yet. The sophisticated look, the modern cut for those who don’t like the old classic elastic waistband and the price are the three things that stand out for me as swimwear collector. In short: They look great, the fit is flattering, not baggy or puffy, the finishing is impeccable, they’re short but not not crazy short, and the quality of their products is always the best, not only the fabric but the zippers and the lining. This are a must have. I’ve been following Bluemint for over a year now and I am very happy to see how they’re evolving, becoming a big name in the swimwear game. You can buy this shorts clicking here!
