Poche Plage

So… Poche Plage is an italian brand that I recently found on instagram. I liked their models but couldn’t really tell much by the pictures, I have a pair now and all I can say is: WOW! Why WOW? They are flattering shorts that fit your body and look good in every possible way, specially in the back for me, they really have a great design, they are short and modern looking, colorful, with great patterns that are whimsical, masculine and attractive to the eye. The fabric is great, the long cord that ties the waist is really something that adds to the design making it more fun and playful. I would say: Get a pair! … and they’re made in Italy, you know is good. Learn more about this brand here, you can also follow them on instagram here and you can follow me clicking here!

Xarifa

So… I first was introduced to this brand while browsing online for new trunks last year, it was Xarifa’s first collection. This brand is based on Milan and advertised as a product 100% made in Italy so naturally I had really big expectations… and they were all met and surpassed.  The moment I received my first pair of Xarifa trunks, the Squame Sulphur Sky, I was pleasantly surprised by its packaging, it is the most exquisite packaging for a swim-short I have ever seen. It came in a white branded box big enough to fit the short, inside there was a bag made out of the same fabric and print as the shorts. The presentation is superb and that to me speaks highly of such a young brand. Once you take the shorts out of the bag you notice the classic cut, but once you put them on they look really fitted, I believe the key in the design is the cut around the leg area which is a lot more narrow than some other brands and that helps shape the swimwear to your …

BLUEMINT X THE CARIBBEAN KING

This summer BLUEMINT and the Caribbean King are working on a fun collaboration by showcasing colorful swimwear, taking these vibrant colored shorts and placing them in the idilic setting like Aruba seemed like a natural progression. The colors compliment the beautiful beaches and vice versa. Let’s start off with the dandelion trunk… The color yellow of this trunk is as bright as the Caribbean sun which exudes a joyful way of life and stands out at the beach or pool. The pair that are featured today has been dubbed Dandelion by BLUEMINT. With such a fun name I figured that these need to be taken out for a wild escapade around the island. Jumping from piers, into rough waters and then for a much needed nap after “test driving” these trunks around Aruba. The Dandelion is well constructed inside out! This I could tell the minute I unpacked them from the box in which they cam in. Once I started detailing it you can see the finish is beautifully and impeccably done. It is with no doubt …

The Yellow Floral Surf Trunk by Bather

Bather is a brand I discovered while browsing on Instagram, you all know how I love to do that. The shorts are made in Canada and that’s one of the things I like the most about them, it is the first thing I tell people when they ask where they are from. It’s an unexpected answer!    Like any great pair of trunks the drying process after a good swim is really quick, the fabric is 100% nylon and it has a shine to it and sort of a plastic feel in a good way. It is soft yet it keeps its shape at all times. No pockets on the sides, just one in the back… this is great and I will tell you why: I won’t drown my iPhone, like it has happened in the past.   This particular pair, the yellow floral, is bright and colorful, if you ask me it has a retro feel, like from the 70s yet it feels current. The price is quite reasonable and the quality of the product is top of the …

BLACK FREQUENCY

Another wonderful piece by Onia, the Black Frequency. It is available now online. Since my first pair of Onia I’ve always been a fan of the Calder shorts. Check this beautiful new piece named Black Frequency. Why the Calder? Exemplifying a commitment to class, style and quality from the smallest detail upwards the Calder Trunk is their signature style. The fit is inspired by the classic chino cut and their construction—sewn with a clean finish along the inner and outer seams—takes a cue from high-end dress pants. • 7.5″ inch inseam • 17.5″ inch outseam • superfine mesh lining • custom antique nickel hardware • internal quick drying nylon adjustable drawstring • two deep, reinforced, double-lined side pockets • rear pocket with hidden snap • rear locker loop • zip front fly and snap closure at waistband Make sure you follow Onia on instagram and twitter or like their facebook page.

The BurkmanBros

So.. I have these new pair of swim-trunks by the talented BurkmanBros, I was very curious because these are my first pair so I didn’t know what to expect but I have to say I am very pleased with them, not only the use of their exclusive fabric but also they are as bright and bold in color as you see online but it has an extra something, you can feel right away is a quality product. The fabric’s composition is 80% cotton and 20 % polyester.. Yes it takes a bit more to dry but the shorts keeps its shape all the time and that’s something I like a lot. Furthermore they always look good no matter how wet they are. You don’t have to worry much in regards to how the shorts looks after you get out of the water because they look perfect, so say goodbye to awkwardly pulliing and adusting it in public. They have 3 convenient pockets, a zip fly and to help them stay snug and fitted around the waiste they have a drawcord closure, which is very convenient since shorts can get a bit …

Frescobol Carioca

I am obsessing over this newly discovered brand. I was just browsing on instagram… soemtimes I like to do a hashtag search to discover treasures and… there it was: Frescobol Carioca. They’re form the UK, launched in 2009. I love their shorts, specially their tailored ones, the prints are minimalist but they pop and the colors are great, the buttons detail on top is really a nice touch. Can’t wait to get my hands on a pair soon, or should i say legs? Their beach bats look fun, high quality and i love they’re handmade. They also have towels, boards… I think is a very complete beach brand… I am really interested on getting a few of their products. Hopefully soon.

Bayahibe & Trasa

So, I was lucky enough to be followed by the people of Bayahibe on tumblr. I didn’t know who they were but now I’m really interested. They have beautiful prints, specially this butterfly one that I’m obsessing over. Bayahibe is a beach located in the Dominican Republic where they got their inspiration for developing this brand. The price range is about USD $106. Now, browsing on tumblr I’ve found this australian brand named Trasa, they have their new collection out ( it is summer down under ) and I fell for this pair of trunks, they have it in different colors but this coral one is really cool. They look a bit 90s which is good. They give me a california vibe in the 90s. what do you think? Make sure you check both brands.
