As it’s getting colder I’m planning my holidays to warmer temperatures, clearer waters, and Islands other than Manhattan like Aruba, Tulum and St Barths to end the year. Trust me, if I can skip the entire winter season, I would.
In the last few weeks, I’ve been jumping around the Caribbean avoiding the New York cold and seeking loungers and cocktails. If you’ve been following my journey this season, you’ve probably caught me recently in Miami for Art Basel, Aruba and most recently, Tulum, which has become one of my favorite places in Mexico.
I packed my essentials for Tulum, sorts of linen and swim trunks, a hat for the sun and sunglasses, which is the key to my outfits for many reasons. For starters, they’re not only the perfect compliment to my outfit, but also protects my eyes for UV rays, and most importantly, cover any signs of that the night before was long— if you know what I mean.
I’ve been a fan of John Varvatos for quite some time, he’s an American legend and I admire the most his rockabilly sense of style. I remember my first pair of JV shades which I took to Bali— I was obsessed with them but sadly lost them at Omnia after having one too many cocktails.
In the collection of images here I present you my newest additions to my eyewear collection. These are the guys I took to Aruba, Miami, Tulum and they’re already packed for my trip to ring the new year in St. Barths.
The Strummer Tortoise
First, My favorite, the Strummer, in Tortoise, if you know me, and have been following my journey, you know I always wear tortoise frames. These guys have a retro vibe and a flat front, which compliments my face. I genuinely think this shape fits most faces. They’re very masculine, bold and they’re just very me.
The Sullivan Tortoise
Now, the Sullivan— they’re not the typical frames I would go for, but I was surprised when I liked them so much. They’re so sleek, and at the same time have a vintage yet modern vibe.
The Strummer Black
Modern lines with a retro feel, these bad boys have Detroit-inspired racing lines on the temples. They have reflective lenses that let you get away with looking at the girls or boys at the beach without being caught *laughs*.
I’m also sharing with you guys a few of the favorites that I don’t own, but very much like! Sunglasses always make a great gift because realistically, you can’t ever own too many. John Varvatos has a great selection of shades for the modern day man. Feel free to click on the images to purchase or learn more about them directly on the John Varvatos website.
